Do you want your relationship to be the best it can be? Are you feeling stuck in painful patterns and don’t know how to take positive steps towards change? I offer therapy for couples in person (at therapy rooms in Alderley Edge), or online. Couple therapy can help you to:

  • improve communication and deepen understanding

  • resolve conflict constructively

  • reconnect emotionally and sexually

  • rebuild trust or strengthen intimacy

  • navigate life transitions, parenting challenges or external pressures

Couples come to counselling for many reasons. It may be that you feel like you are going round in the same cycle of conflict and misunderstanding, or long to rekindle the closeness and connection you used to have.  Over time, counselling can help you develop new patterns of communication, rebuild emotional closeness, and create a more secure and fulfilling relationship.

I’m a fully qualified relationship therapist, specialising in helping couples to understand their patterns, strengthen their connection, and communicate more effectively. My approach is warm, calm and supportive; creating a safe space where both partners feel heard, respected and valued. Together, we explore the dynamics in your relationship and work towards meaningful, lasting change.

I offer a free 30 minute introductory call/meeting to talk about what counselling involves and so we can get a feel for what it would be like to work together. Please get in touch if you would like further information, or to book in an initial call: laurahamiltontherapy@proton.me

Training and Professional Background

I trained with Relate and have a Diploma in Relationship Counselling, a Higher Education Certificate in Counselling from the University of Salford and have specific training in offering therapy onlineI am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their ethical framework. I spent several years working as a relationship therapist with Talk Listen Change, which gave me a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of couples. Prior to training as a therapist, I worked in the field of HIV/sexual health.

I’m currently undertaking further training as an Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist (EFT). If you choose to work with me, EFT will be the primary approach I use. It is an evidence‑based model shown to reduce distress and improve relationship satisfaction. I also integrate elements from systemic, psychodynamic, solution‑focused and mindfulness‑based approaches.
